Arsine – AsH3
This page arsine – or arsenic trihydride – ( AsH3 ), suitable detection tools – Arsine gas detector – and respiratory protective equipment (gas mask or B with gas filter provides information about powered air breathing apparatus).
Arsine (AsH3) properties
Historically known to have been used as a chemical weapon during World War I arsine ( AsH3 ) – arsenic trihydride – also known as – is present in many industrial processes. It is used especially in the steel industry, in ferrous metal foundries (desulfurization systems cleaning), tin foundries, metal processing, electronics industry and boiler descaling.

Effects of Arsine on health
Colorless at ambient temperature Arsine ( AsH3 ), is odorless when newborn. When it comes into contact with air, it oxidizes and acquires a distinct garlic odor. Since it is heavier than air, it penetrates into organisms through the respiratory tract. When Arsine is inhaled It is highly toxic (R26) and is harmful to the aquatic environment because it dissolves easily in water. It is extremely flammable (R12) can form explosive mixtures between 5.1% and 78% by volume.
