Carbon dioxide – CO2
Here carbon dioxide – or carbonic gas – ( CO2 ) you can find basic information about: properties, health effects, detection devices and systems – CO2 detector – and appropriate respiratory protective equipment (self-contained breathing apparatus or air-supplying respirator).
Carbon dioxide (CO2) properties
Carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) – carbonic gas also called – occurs naturally in the atmosphere in low concentrations (400 ppm). Essential for photosynthesis, it can be found in greenhouses to increase plant growth. CO2 is widely used in its different states: in its solid state as a chiller, in its gaseous state in the beer and wine growing industries, and in its liquid state in firefighting.

Health effects of carbon dioxide
Carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) odorless And is colorless . Since it absorbs the infrared spectrum, it is included in the greenhouse effect. This gas is neither poisonous nor explosive and its greatest danger is It is a suffocating feature . It is heavier than air, displacing oxygen in confined spaces or poorly ventilated areas (tanks, sewers, manholes…). Additionally, this gas is quite hazardous to health as it cannot be detected without proper equipment.
