Air-Fed Respiratory System – Atmosphere-Fed Respirators

Supplied air systems are respiratory protective equipment that offer the highest level of safety. They belong to the same family as self-contained breathing apparatus and are particularly suitable for long-term operation in hostile, anoxic or highly toxic environments. They come in two categories: a constant-flow device that can use a wide range of face masks (EN 14594 standard) and valve-on-demand supplied air respirators adapted for interventions in confined spaces (EN14593-1 standard).

Supply Air Systems

Supply air systems – or Respiratory Airway System for RAS – are self-contained breathing apparatus that does not require the user to carry a cylinder of compressed air. They have the classic SCBA harness, but the expansion is only on one level, with a full face mask attached to the harness and an air source that can come from a breathing air compressor or a breathing air cart . powered

air systems in long-term use is the highest level of respiratory protection and used in a wide range of industrial applications, including working in tight spaces (tanks, pits, sewers, crawl spaces, etc.), painting, asbestos removal or tank cleaning.

Different sources of air supply

Under the seat belt, an air supply hose (conventional or antistatic for work in an ATEX environment) is connected via an anti-pull system for optimum safety. These hoses are available in various lengths and can be connected together to reach a maximum length of 60 m (depending on the number of users).

For supplied-air systems, two sources of breathing air are available. The first and most popular supply air source is the breathing air compressor systematically combined with the breathing air filter unit (CO, CO2, NOx, water and oil vapor filtration). This solution provides a theoretically unlimited amount of breathing air.

The second source of breathing air is the breathing air cart, which has one or more compressed air cylinders on it. It is a versatile and practical device for outdoor interventions. It is equipped with a release system (first release) and allows empty cylinders to be replaced even during use.

Periodic inspection of supply air systems

All components that make up the air supply system are class 3 personal protection equipment (injurious or fatal risks). They are subject to annual periodic control (mandatory) in accordance with regulations and standards on respiratory protection equipment. With a new generation laboratory and a team of qualified and trained technicians for the control and periodic verifications of class 3 PPE, GTC Industrial offers a range of services adapted to each specific need. A certificate of conformity is systematically provided with verified devices. It is also available on our intranet via our secure GTC Industrial application. The simple and user-friendly interface lets you know at a glance which devices need to be controlled.
