Nitrogen Dioxide – NO2
This page nitrogen dioxide ( NO2 ), suitable detection tools – nitrogen dioxide detector – and provides information on respiratory protective equipment (self-contained breathing apparatus and supplied-air respirator).
Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) properties
Nitrogen dioxide ( NO2 ), is considered responsible for atmospheric pollution. As a result, this gas is an important indicator for air quality monitoring agencies. It is produced especially by the internal combustion of diesel engines and can be found in every area (mines, garages, parking lots…) where these vehicles are located. NO2 is also used in the chemical industry e.g. nitric acid (HNO3) synthesis It is widely used for .

Health effects of nitrogen dioxide
Nitrogen dioxide, from 0.2 ppm sharp It is a yellow-brown gas with an odor. This gas is irritating to the eyes (R36) and respiratory system (R37). Moreover very toxic when inhaled (R26) and may cause burns (R34). Nitrogen dioxide, which is flammable and non-explosive, can ignite combustion is a strong oxidizer . Reaction with many chemical compounds (chloride compounds, benzene) can produce explosive gas mixtures.
