Benzene's health effects

IARC* benzene category 1 carcinogenic substance classified as (R45/49). This substance may also cause hereditary genetic damage (R46). When ingested or inhaled, this organic compound enters the respiratory tract. is harmful – particularly dangerous to the lungs (R65) but also dangerous to the eyes (R36). Prolonged exposure to benzene may cause serious health consequences if swallowed, inhaled or in contact with skin (R48/23/24/25).
