Hydrazine – N2H4

Hydrazine ( N2H4 ) or diazan Here you can find basic information about: properties, health effects, detection devices and systems – hydrazine gas detector  – and suitable respiratory protective equipment (gas mask or K-P3 with combined filter powered air purifying respirator).

Properties of hydrazine (N2H4)

Best known for its use as rocket jet fuel hydrazine ( N2H4 ) – diazan – also used as a synthesis intermediate in the petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries and as a blowing agent to produce polymer foam in the rubber industry. Thanks to its properties – especially in liquid form at ambient temperature – this gas is used to produce fuel cells.

Health effects of hydrazine

Colorless and has an ammonia odor at low concentration levels. hydrazine ( N2H4 ), is very soluble in water or alcohols, which can lead to the production of explosive vapors. liquid or gaseous flammable (H226), this gas when inhaled is very toxic if swallowed or in contact with skin (H331/301/311) and is listed by IARC* as 2B ( Possibly carcinogenic to humans ) is classified as. May also cause severe skin burns and eye damage (H314).
